Last week saw the Prime Minister’s announcement on AI and his commitment to embedding artificial intelligence across sectors to drive a decade of national renewal
His emphasis on AI’s potential to transform public services, including education, is timely and crucial.
Further Education (FE) is already at the forefront of this transformation. At Hull College, they have been integrating AI into teaching, curriculum design, and workforce development, ensuring that learners are equipped with the digital and AI competencies needed for the future workforce. More broadly, FE is demonstrating the power of AI through cross-sector collaboration—working alongside employers, industry leaders, and policymakers to ensure AI adoption is actively shaping the skills system.
To support the government’s ambition, Hull College are pleased to share Hello Future: Embracing AI in Further Education, which is downloadable from Publications and Thought Leadership | Hull College. This is a collaborative report by 12 colleges - produced by the sector, for the sector and free to the sector. This work highlights:
· The ways AI is already being deployed in FE to enhance learning and operational efficiency.
· How FE is working in partnership with business, industry, and government to embed AI in workforce development.
· The opportunities AI presents for closing skills gaps, particularly in technical and vocational education.
· The policy and investment enablers needed to accelerate AI adoption in FE.
