Be a part of HEY LSIP 2.0!

18 August 2026

Employer involvement remains fundamental to HEY LSIP 2.0. The plan was shaped by the experiences and priorities employers shared with us...

Be a part of HEY LSIP 2.0!

...and maintaining that employer voice throughout delivery will be equally important.

As we now move from development into delivery, we are establishing a new programme of HEY LSIP 2.0 Thematic Working Groups and we want employers to continue to be involved! During the development of HEY LSIP 2.0, our sectoral working groups provided important insight into the specific needs of different industries. However, the evidence also highlighted that many of the challenges employers face are shared across sectors.

We will host four thematic working groups that reflect the main themes of the LSIP

  • Theme 1 - Technical Skills: ensuring technical education and training keeps pace with current and emerging employer needs, including digital, sustainability and leadership capabilities
  • Theme 2 - Preparation for Working Life:  improving employability, careers awareness, workplace experience and pathways into employment.
  • Theme 3 - Educational Workforce: strengthening links between industry and education, supporting educators to maintain current industry knowledge/expertise and ensuring the workforce is at capacity to deliver training aligned with employer needs.
  • Theme 4 - Knowledge Point: making it easier for employers and individuals to understand and access the skills, training and support available across the area.

Moving to thematic groups will enable us to bring employers from different sectors together alongside education and training providers, public-sector partners and VCSE organisations to focus on these shared challenges and practical solutions. It will also help us reduce duplication, make the best use of employers' time and ensure that activity is focused on delivering the priorities identified through HEY LSIP 2.0.

What will the new Thematic Groups focus on?

Rather than each group covering every aspect of its theme at every meeting, each meeting will have a specific area of focus, allowing for more detailed discussion and clearer outcomes. We recognise that not every organisation will want or need to attend every meeting. You can therefore choose the themes and individual meetings that are most relevant to you.

Our intention is to host our first set of meetings online as follows:

  • Theme 1 - Technical Skills: Monday 21st September at 10.00am
  • Theme 2 - Preparation for Working Life:  Wednesday 23rd September at 10.00am
  • Theme 3 - Educational Workforce:  Thursday 1st October at 10.00am
  • Theme 4 - Knowledge Point: Tuesday 6th October at 10.00am
